Release notes
What’s new in Foxstep for Mac, newest first. From 0.10.8, the app checks for updates once a day and installs one only after you approve it.
-
- Private details, said up front. A guide that shows them says so, such as “20 emails visible”, in the guide and in your library. One click opens the review to hide them.
- Choose what to hide. In Settings › Privacy, pick what Foxstep looks for and add words, names or patterns it should always hide. Draw over something once in the review, and it offers to hide it on the other steps that show it.
- Values that change, shown as pills. An order number or email that differs each time reads “Type [order number]” in the step and in every export.
- Add where you are. One click adds a note, step, tip, alert or heading under the step you’re on.
- Zoom each screenshot. − and + show less or more around the click, in your guide and every export.
- One row of controls. Edit, Preview and the walkthrough share one row under your guide, with Ask and Improve beside them.
- A freehand pen in the screenshot editor, on key P.
-
- Edit a screenshot where it sits. Draw arrows, boxes and numbers, type, crop and blur on the image in your guide, with one row of tools and a key for each.
- Blur finds what to blur. Names, emails, faces and other private details are outlined, read on your Mac. Click one to blur it, or blur them all.
- A privacy review that goes step by step. It opens beside your guide and shows what it found on each screenshot.
- Numbered step cards. Guides read as numbered steps, each zoomed to its click.
-
- Made with Foxstep. Exported guides carry a small Foxstep icon and a link at the foot of the page. With a licence, you can turn it off in Settings › Exports.
-
- Hiding is free on every guide. Your AI assistant can ask Foxstep to hide words, a kind of detail or part of a screenshot in any saved guide. Nothing changes until you approve it in Foxstep.
-
- AI credits. The account menu shows the credits you have left as a number and a bar. One credit is 1p.
- Free screenshot descriptions. They need cloud AI turned on, and they work even with no credits left.
- Fewer interruptions. When your assistant asks Foxstep to hide something, the privacy review opens only if there’s something to hide.
-
- Automatic updates. From this version, Foxstep checks for updates once a day and installs them when you approve. Earlier versions need one manual download.
- Your AI assistant can ask Foxstep to hide things. Foxstep finds them on your Mac and adds them to the guide’s privacy review. Nothing changes until you click Apply, and the assistant learns only how many places were found.
- Better step names. Clicks get a name in more apps, including Chrome and Electron apps, and from the words on screen when nothing else names them.
- No black screenshots. A screenshot that comes out black is left out, with a note in the recording panel.
-
- The Foxstep licence. Your first complete guide is free, with retries, editing and exports. After that, a licence is £149 once, with 1,000 AI credits.
-
- Record only the app you’re in, or everything on screen.
- Click screenshots show the moment of the press, not a moment after.
- Typing is recorded as written, including edits, pasted text and accents.
- Handover packs. Several guides as one PDF, web page or walkthrough, or each as its own file.
-
- Privacy review. Foxstep suggests text and screenshot redactions on your Mac, for you to check before anything is shared.
- A library with tags, favourites and search across guide text.
- AI assistant connection. Connect Claude, Cursor or Codex from Settings. Assistants can read only guides with a current privacy review.
